Walking As Practice has an affiliate art residency.
BKN/Björkö Konstnod is in the Northern Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden.
Occasionally offering studio grants but it is, through out the year, possible to affordably rent a studio with accommodation. The max capacity of artists/walkers is 9. There are other opportunities in the area if the group is larger. This way you can orchestrate both self directed or programs in collaboration with BKN.
WAP was born at BKN. Berg Duo ( Ami Skånberg & Anna Viola Hallberg ) initiated a program in 2023. For 2024 they invited John Schuerman and Antonia Aitken as co-curators. Since then also formed Walking As Practice Collective (and affiliate members). Both BKN and WAP are happy to collaborate towards projects, exhibitions, walks, etc.
Björkö and Stockholm Region has many trails well known to WAP. It includes through hikes with options of doing shorter segments to artist driven walks in urban or rural settings. Coastal trails, Pilgrim trails, Viking trails, Inland trails (forest/field/lake setting etc)
Björkö Konstnod is situated @2 1/2 hours north of Stockholm.
Train to Stockholm, continuing with public transportation to the stop Björkö-Arholma Skola (sl.se)
Fly to Arlanda Airport, continuing with public transportation to the stop Björkö-Arholma Skola (sl.se) or from Arlanda Airport go via Stockholm (Flygbussen or Arlanda express) to central station and then public transportation to the stop to Björkö-Arholma Skola (sl.se)
