The focus area is Kanda River making its way through the city. Sanpo in Suriashi or follow Kanda River from the perspective of an artist. It’s an artistic exploration a social dive into layers of Tokyo that you never seen or know of. It’s an opportunity to experience walking as art form and to shift the tempo and usage of a specific site. We encourage you to try Sanpo in Tokyo.

Step away from the main streets and discover Tokyo communities. Engage with artists and curators as they discuss their works and inspirations in this exclusive panel. The international walking artist collective WAP is in Tokyo to walk with you and artist run spaces, collectives and communities. You can join us on specific dates or do a self guided tour that through Sanpo at Tokyo Biennal will make you discover new things about the city and its people.

Online and in community centers you enbaark on a visual exhibition capturing the essences of the Kanda River its bridges in current , present and perhaps future times.
Why not ask a stranger ISSHO NI SANPO/緒に散歩 (Walk Together) as part of Tokyo Biennal. The exhibition consists of video, plans/maps of bridges Tokyos cultural history meets the story of today and the passed.-

The set up is that you can walk with us with communities we selected and experience Tokyo the way we have done. Our encounter with the brides and Kanda River started in July 2024 as we visited Tokyo for another walking projects relating to both art, pilgrimage and academic lectures. As you take part of the interventions we have made we might already be in Sweden. We appreciate you sending videos to us or add to the analog exhibition your personal experiences of Sanpo Tokyo.
